On my quest to get all the bits to the 90 done before the winter, after sorting out the snorkel, I've started on bigger things now.
note for whoever has a snorkel
My snorkel fits on the side of the passenger side wing, when I fitted it before, I thought all was air tight, it wasnt. You have to remove the heater box to get access to the inside of where the snorkel goes in, in here there is a box connected to a plastic elbow. This connection is rubish, you have to seal it, also, the plastic box has a drain nipple, which you have to remove and close the hole.
Now, back to my questions....
My battery box needed welding, so I've done this..
few holes
metal plates done and ready to weld
So... to my surprise the chassi is spot on, still black and protected, with just a slight surface rust on the top.... while its like that I want to protect it.
Should I just paint it with hammerite? or red oxyde paint first and then black hammerite? or brush some waxoyl all over it?
secondly... can I coat the inside of the battery box with waxoyl? it has loads of surface rust inside and looks a mess, even after brushing with an air dremmel with a steel brush...
cheers!!
