My other half has kindly bought herself another project for me to sort out. It's a 2001 4.6 Vogue and hasn't been on the road for about 18 months. I've managed to sort out the EAS, HEVAC and ABS/TC problems and it's now MOT'd and back on the road. The next few problems I can do as and when. I noticed that when driving the doors lock and unlock on there own so I isolated the problem to the drivers side door lock and bought a replacement lock actuator. While I had the door card off and drivers door handle out I noticed the cam on the back of the drivers door handle had been drilled down the centre and a screw fitted so I need another door handle.

Now to the problem
It's at this point I started to consider getting a second hand BECM, door handle, barrel and speedo because I keep getting Fuse 2 RH/LH seat heater fuse blown and fuse 10 blown on the display when there's nothing wrong with the fuses plus the alarm and central locking has been disabled for some reason. The questions I have are.
What problems will it cause if I swap the BECM and associated bits for a second hand one?
Can I program my two used keys I have to work on the second hand BECM and just get replacement blades?

TIA. Pete

Your existing BECM can be "Unlocked" and all settings read with the BECM, SM035 software, including the keyfob data. To replace the lock, you will need the set (Ignition barrel + transponder+ tailgate + drivers door) and of course at least one key.
The S/H BECM does not neccesarily, but it helps, if it does, come from the same donor car as the lockset. You need a "H" level BECM with a "YWC" part number, the higher the better.
Send the two BECM's off to "Rick the Pick" and he will "Clone" the spare from the original which means that the fobs will work.
You will of course have to get a spare blade cut unless you are lucky enough to get two fobs with the lockset (highly unlikely !!!) Then simply swap the blades to your existing fobs which is an easy job needing a small pin punch to remove the tiny spring pin...be careful you don't lose it !!
Good Luck

Keeping my eye out for you !!
Missus is in hospital in Bangor so I am home alone....just me, the dogs and a few full bottles to keep me company !!!
Glad someone is,hope it is nothing to serious with your wife, enjoy the beer and peace and quiet.:D

Dunno what it is John, taken in last Friday, chest pains, sickness and loss of appetite. They suspect it may be Gall Bladder related. She's having a scan today so I will know more later. Nice 80 mile round trip from here, good job I dont have the old 4.6, P38...I would be broke in a week and would have to hitch hike to your neck of the woods to get you to buy me some ale !!!

Hopefully,it will get sorted out,yes it is a long round trip, but with your millions in the bank,no problem, lol.Anytime you want a beer, you know where i am,anytime.

Thanks for the reply.

Do you know if I can get the data with a Nanocom? saying that i'm probably better letting someone who knows what they're doing lose on it

No you can't get that data with a nanocom,as Irishrover said, get in touch with Rick the pick in Brighton,he will sort it out for you,as long as you cross his palm, with silver.:D:D

No probs,to get the info and sort any issues out,you need the full faultmate kit, which costs a fortune.Plus you have to know how to use it,correctly.

Have you checked the boot lock and button? Got a niggling memory that can cause door locks to do odd things.
