I think the Land Rover day is this sunday, never been before and thinking of going as the weather looks good, its only £10 (advance), there's an autojumble and you get in the museum. Anyone been or planning to go? Idea is to go to hovercraft museum at Lee-on-Solent on the saturday as they are doing hovercraft rides then sleep over near Beaulieu. Having spent 4 hours today trying to get the awing to fit (and failed) I'm pretty much committed. They are advertising an LR Expereince off road course for £25 but that could easily cost another £250 in repairs so I may pass on that.

Never been to the Land Rover event but visited the museum a couple of times - definitely worth £10 for the museum alone so you probably can't go wrong.

I saw your Land Rover at the Basingstoke Festival of Transport, your lad was happily playing in the back but I couldn't see you around at the time.

That was probably a parenting fail moment. It does explain something; we were expreimenting with walkie-talkies, Dan had one and instructions to call me in if he needed anyting - I then went off to buy some tools. We'ed been practicing but his idea of an emergency was a lost Lego peice that always turned up before i'd get back. I think he worked out it was a "see how far Dad goes before i can get him back" game. He called me to say someone who knew me was there and I was heading back lugging a fire exstinguisher I'd just bought so we must have just missed each other. Tilford is on Sunday 14 Oct, the entry has just arrived, free if you register before 1 Oct.

I'd try to stick with walkie-talkies as long as you can...my two girls (15 & 12) progressed on to iPhones and they probably cost me more than the Land Rover to run! I sent off my self addressed envelopes for Tilford a couple of weeks back. I enjoyed last years event there, it's one of my favourites - a very relaxed event.

Well it was a great day out, a couple of hundred Landrovers with plenty of Series of all descriptions. Some spares too. Good layout so you can enjoy the sights but still have a short walk back for a picnic. I will go again, well organised and less than half the price of normal tickets and a shorter walk. For anyone who hasn't been I would reccomend it, there's the obviously great collection of cars and bikes but some good enducational interactive stuff, kids rides, the free monorail and a big Top Gear exhibion that was great fun, you can sit in a lot of the exhibits from the programs, perfect for a top Gear fan aged 8 (and an older one too....). Surpised we were the only Dormobile roof, wonder whey they all go?
