What are they for, for example if they are for a Disco are they the easy fit or the chassis mounted ones?
I've fitted easy fits on my Disco on to the outriggers, and if thats what you've got then a tip.
Once in place and alll tight, put your weight on them and make sure they dont move, mine did. So when i checked again i was able to get another couple of turns on the nut to get the tension right.
Just a thought.

i fitted the chassis mounting ones to my disco. you need to undo the bolts that hold the body onto the chassis(the rears are a right bastard) then you are supposed to drill and bolt them onto the outriggers but i decided it was easier to weld em on. not a hard job except for the back bolts

You dont have to, the hole in the bracket is there if you want to put a nut and bolt through, but to be honest i never bothered. I weigh around 14 stone and once i got em tight the second time i could easily bounce up and down on mine with no problems. The instructions i got with mine said about the same thing, it wasnt deffo needed but if you wanted to be 100 per cent sure on them drill through for the bolt.
Like i say though i never bothered.

One other point, when you look at them the brackets are nice and stright, but as you tighten the brackets bend round the lip of the outriggers. Thats when i stopped tightening mine, which was the mistake. Once they were tightened fully the bracket round the outriggers held firm. It bends to the shape of the lip.
Just a couple more tips should anyone else fit these:
Don't bolt the steps to the mounting brackets as suggested in the instructions: it restricts access to the outrigger nuts, and the access for getting a drill in to make your hole for the additional mounting.(Two bolts are safer than one, and it isn't much hassle if you're patient) Drill a pilot hole first through the bracket side - then drill an 11mm from the opposite side using the pilot as a guide as drill access is limited. You WILL need the original outrigger mounting nut, so don't discard it as suggested in the instructions. When the brackets are in placed and firmly tightened THEN bolt the sidesteps to the brackets.
As Lenny has mentioned, when everything is in place and you have done a "pinch tight" on all the nuts to get the position right make sure you give everything an extra "grunt" to ensure a stable fit.
The only annoying thing when fitted is they are too close to the front mudflaps and squeeze them out of shape..
