I’m new to the forum so apologies if this question has been raised before.
I received a folding side step as a gift (bearmach 90606002). Paddock Spares kindly sent a basic fitting guide but this didn’t cover the innumerable bolts, brackets and 2 bracing arms that came with the kit.
There is not a YouTube video for this particular article.
Does anyone have any idea/instructions that may be useful? I would like to get up to speed before wielding a drill at the chassis member.
Many thanks
Charles

My LR side step bolts to the underside of the door sill , so the short right angled brackets will be needed there , the L brackets on mine face inward and line up with the existing holes in sill, the stay arm goes to the chassis perhaps only one needed or 1 straight on and 1 at an angle , round bar through bracket and step, spring goes on the stud on step and onto bracket looks to a lug welded on far side leg. Not sure about bobbin if it rubber that might fit to stop it clanking and hitting side chill when you kick the step up, not sure about short arm

Many thanks Steve. I’ll check that out tomorrow. I assume that all the parts are to cover all the eventualities (drivers /passenger side etc). Looks like there will be enough left over for me to fix the barbecue as well!

The reason there's no guidance is cos they were an optional extra. Personally I'd avoid fitting them; yes they maybe authentic but once fitted they tend to just siece and rust unless they get a lot of TLC.

My steps have been on since new in 1977. They look tatty and rusty but they still work and support my 16 stone weight. If I only had one to fit, I'd put it under the rear door, that's the only one I use but I don't have small children to get in it.

So, I dug a bit more and found a crappy copy of the optional parts catalogue in my bookshelf. Here's a poor scan - but I think it might come in handy, because it is the actual thing, and not the rear step. Good luck!

I took mine off cos they rot and rot the chassis. They also compromise ground clearance off road. Personally I don't like the look either. I took the rear step off as well.
