I'm going to replace my prop bearings and have read loads of bad posts on Britpart bearings. Should I use Genuine Landy ones or is there a good aftermarket type. I also will have a spare diff I was going to try and rebearing it myself and swap. Is there a kit other than the britpart one I could use?

Thanks
Martyn

Prop bearings, go for the OEM genuine ones, cost twice as much but last 5 times as long!
As for the diff rebuild- and no disrespect to your engineering prowess- unless you have attempted one before, they are not simple to set up.

Various shims and patience are required to setup the crownwheel and pinion backlash correctly, also do you have acess to a bearing press?

An incorrectly setup diff will have a very short life, unless you are very confident and competent, I think thats one better left to an expert.

Please avoid Britpart at all costs! Cheap! for a reason! its crap!
No in fact, crap is too kind!
Allmakes 4x4 seem to have a better reputation, and I have been much happier with their aftermarket parts.

BRITPART...Aaarrrghhhhh...*runs out of the room screaming*:censored:

If you value your Land Rover in any way, shape or form do not fit anything from them on your vehicle.

AllMakes do seem pretty good, though do be certain you are not buying BP components by stealth from some online providers. Most OEM stuff seems okay.

cheers guys, i'll maybe hold off with diff just now. I'm going to replace prop bearings and VSC first and see if road noise calms a bit before doing anything with diff. I'll have spares soon anyway so car won't need to be off road for long if it needs rebuilt.
