In my opinion, if you ever go off-roading, green laning or simply puddle dipping on the road, then bearing grease is NOT an overkill in either the type or the quantity ...
If you get it for free or very cheap, doubly so ...
I does make me wonder, why, when you get the bearing kits and you normally receive a small sachet of grease...............but why is it so small??????? LOL...
Cheers
Landy hubs have a 'built in' area for that, the space between the races .. the bearing shells and rollers themselves I like to pack very well ...
.... and found that instead of changing them every week, they could push replacement forward to almost three weeks.
I had a spate where to save money (bolocksss) I used cheap bearings ... They lasted maybe two outings. I now use Timken and haven't had issues since other than over tightening of one bearing set (My fault entirely).
If people insist on dipping hot hubs into cold water, they ARE going to need the bearings changing more often. It's a simple rule of the game you are playing.
I use Wilco grease.
Oh. Found a gap in the fence at craddocks have we............Hi lads just about to replace my wheel bearings on the old disco 1 300tdi I've got some cat NLGI #2
high speed bearing grease will this do the job or is it over kill I get it free and like the sound of it as it helps protect from salt water ect
