As long as you know what it does it's a simple matter of individual choice so you have to decide if you want it or not but even enabled it will not affect anything as long as it's not used ... i apologise in advance for my rudeness but the best is to at least RTFOM of your vehicle cos you'll find out many other usefull informations IMO :rolleyes:

I've not used the bathrobe lock yet, but I use the remote start on my wife's Jaguar XE all the time.
10 mins before you want to leave, start the Jaguar Remote App on my phone, start the engine remotely and it will warm it to the climate setting you have selected. Obviously it needs to be on the drive to do this. I assume that modern LRs have an identical facility.
 
Didn't know it had the feature, i've been leaving mine running on the drive for a couple of minutes recently just while the heated screen, mirrors & seats do their stuff (facelift) but I do live in a remote area. Could be a useful feature for me.

EDIT: I see you are on the IoM so it shouldn't be a feature you need should it?
 
I've never liked the idea of starting the engine cold and just letting it idle... I much prefer to drive off and just take it easy until the engine warms up.

I was just wondering if anyone used it at all, or whether it was a idea one of the designers came up with after a liquid lunch. :)
 
IMO it's useful only if a FBH is fitted, letting a Td5 idle when it's cold outside without FBH is just a waste of fuel cos it can use a whole tank of diesel without even the gauge to reach the middle, it's not recommended either and beside that the alarm is not active so if somebody opens the door somehow he can hop in and drive away.

from owner's handbook page 95 (Starting & driving)

"Warming-up

DO NOT warm-up the engine by allowing it to
idle at a slow speed.
In the interests of fuel economy, it is advisable
to drive the vehicle straight away,
remembering that harsh acceleration and
labouring the engine before the normal
operating temperature has been reached can
damage the engine."
 
I suppose the point is if you put the climate control on fast defrost it will put the front & rear screen heaters on and full whack blower which might flatten the battery if the engine wasn't running?

That's why the screen heaters won't work unless the engine is running ;)
 
It’s a great feature, you want to let your td5 warm up for a few minutes in the cold, and locking it allows you to pop indoors for a quick cuppa while it does it’s thing
 
It would really impress the neighbours to go outside and leave a noisy old doozil running for 10 minutes at 6AM, or in the case of yesterday 4:15 AM .

I reckon that would make for a chilly drive when one of them smashes a window to turn off the engine whilst I am enjoying that second cup of tea in my nice warm kitchen!.........................

I take it that peeps who want their screen heaters to warm the front and rear windows do not bother scraping their side windows before they drive their cars.

Just de-ice / scrape the windows, get in it, start it and drive away...:p , It is not that cold.
