help guys
on my way home my battrey light came on
then about 5 min later the hill decent came on
now it wont start
is it the altinater
i should have said its a 2001 3 door td4

If the alternator has failed then it won't have been charging the battery so the battery may not have enough juice to start the engine. I'd start by checking the battery voltage and putting it on a charge. If when the battery is charged it starts, check the voltage across the battery with the engine running. You should get more than 13 volts but if you don't then I'd say you are most likely correct in thinking it's the alternator.

It sounds like the alternator to me.
The TD4 alternator is in a place where it gets soaked in oil from a careless oil filter change. And it can get drowned if water more than 18" deep is tackled. Both of these will shorten it's working life.

i have been looking for a new one but how do i tell what alt i have where i have been looking it says there are 3 different ones of my landy

There is one for the v6 one for the 1800 and one for the td4

Not having much luck so far
Yesterday I took the battery of to charge it up so I could move it to where I could work on it
Tonight went to put it on and found the back window had come down I now have snow all over the inside

The window will be lowered when you reconnect the battery.

It then needs to be raised so that it gets re-calibrated.
