Hello Lads, Today I switched on my Rangie after 6 days exactly and knew it wouldnt start, well anyways to my despair i was right, and it was clinging to the last amps of the battery. I then powered it with a Portable Heavy Duty Jump starter that I have at home, let it on for a few mins and then finally took it off, sat down in the car and noticed that the display on my Climate control screen was invisible, the letters were all gone and there was no display at all.

Can someone please help me with what is going on, what should I do. Is this a normal thing or I need to follow certain steps to get it working. All windows are working, the car is locking and unlocking properly via the remote, the computer is working... Its just the Climate control display not displaying. any help would be appreciated. Many Thanks

When you say "Heavy duty" jump starter, I hope you dont mean a mains powered one. These can play havoc with your ECUs. However I suspect it is nothing more expensive than a bulb failure. The HEVAC screen is back lit, so when the bulb goes you have no display. To get the screen out, wind both front seats right back and you should a screw each side holding the centre consol sides on. Remove these screws and pull the trims towards the back of the car to remove. Now from here, I go a bit fuzzy, as it was about 4 years ago I did this job on my own car, I cant remember wether you have to remove the gear selector trim or not, I sure someone else can tell you. Once you have access to the screen I think there are 4 obvious screws holding it in place. The bulbs are standard fitting most motor factors should have them on the shelf.

thanks rewmer, I have a 4.0 Manual, will I need to take out the plastic stripping around the gear, I mean the trim. Thanks for the help.

Thanks rewmer, I followed your advice and already changed the bulb, it was just the tiny bulb that was dead. Thanks a lot to this forum for helping us all out in times of despair :)
Job Done A++++++
