Hey Rob,

only marking I can see in
The alternator is B56 or B66,

the black plastic cover has the Magneti Marelli logo on it.

battery voltage after charging is 12.24V

voltage at terminals with engine running is: 13.79V

does this seem ok ? Or I be concerned ?

thanks again

Bob

12.24v after charging is a duff battery.

Thanks for the tags re the fob filters.

I've PM'd you, Bob - but will post here aswell...

Unfortunately we are out of stock of the RF Filters at the moment - we are waiting for a new batch of main circuit boards to be manufactured and shipped to us, but as yet I don't have even an estimate on when they might be here so we can build some more filters. We had 150 PCBs made in the first batch, and I sent out the last ones that I had made up here last week I think. Which on one hand is great that there is obviously a use for them, but the downside is that with all the madness in the world at the moment and things taking longer than normal, we are a little bit at a standstill until the boards arrive. We've also tweaked and updated the design aswell, so not just a case of hit 'reorder' on the version we had made last time - though even then I don't think the manufacturing/shipping times were likely to be much different!

I will endeavor to update once I have a time-frame for them becoming available again to order..

Kind Regards,
Marty

Thanks again folks, and thanks for the info Marty.

If 13.8V isn’t good for a modern battery, are there any recommendations for a ‘better’ more appropriate alternator someone would care to recommend ?
Or is it simply a matter of changing the regulator ? -if so, again, where might be a good place to investigate a replacement ?

sorry if these seem daft questions, I really do appreciate the input !

Bob

thats ok,unless you use it daily you can expect battery issues

After a bit of digging, this: Vr-F153a from Mobiletron seems to do the business -if I can find a uk stockist !

That part code was from one of my old posts Bob, you'll be fine, I sourced two off ebay.

Re part numbers: if your alternator was original you'd most likely have this kind of plate (this is off a 4L GEMS). My RR alternator (4.6L GEMS) had it stamped into the lower bracket (not much chance of finding it without removing the alternator)- and I suspect had been re-manufactured, or belonged to a Disco at some point The A127 is the "chassis" ie an ex-Lucas mounting, even if you have an MM alternator. The Vr-F153a fit both of the GEMS vehicles I have, so as long as the alternator you have now is not some funky after-market one then you should be ok with that code.
