Just a quick question gents,
Need a new battery for the Landy (Battery now knackered after no use for 3 months, wont hold charge). Save me the bovv of going outside wi torch and tell me what rating it should be (Ah). I reckon its round about 52 - 55 Ah. Its a 2286cc petrol.

Regards WP.

no probs wes
i just bung in what every battery i have lying around, as long as it starts who cares what size it is

i have a 72a on mine but i'm a firm beleiver in the bigger the better, got no small 'ammer in my toolbox;)

yeah but a 72a will give you immense cranking power on a 2 1/4 petrol which in turn gives you a bigger spark thus a sharper fire up ( not trying to outdo you mate, honest);)

Sorry yellow disco, but the power of the spark will be down to the strength of the coil and the resistance of the plugs and leads.

it takes a lot to turn the engine over so the more ooomph you have to start with means the more you have left for things like sparks and any thing else that is needed at start up.so having a bigger battery will help get a better spark at start up, once running yer battery size don't really matter unless you have a problem or a right shipload of leccy stuff.

We all have our own opinions.

But granted, i can see your point at start-up, but when it's running you would have to ahve some serious electrics running for it to cause so much volt drop.

well if yer roll it down the hill and bump start it every time youwould only need a 15 amp battery anyway ;)

Minorfern auto factors in Clay Cross, Derbyshire. I have unknowingly misinformed you on the price, It was £38 + vat, not £35 + vat I apologise. The Ayathollah has just chastised me for my blatent error.
