Hi folks. I've a disco 2 td5 2002. I've put 2 batteries in it since april. There is something draining them badly even when she's switched off. has anyone experienced this or any ideas?
The alternater is putting out 14.5 volts/ no obvious reason for drain.

You won't find an obvious reason for the drain you will have to look, so put an amp meter in series with the neg battery lead and if there is a high loading remove a fuse one at a time till it lowers and that is the circuit that's giving a problem, start with the security system supply and engine ecu..

I'm suspecting some fault in the split charge or starter circuit cos usually if one of the D2 systems protected by a fuse drains the battery it will cause other problems too....and there are 64 fuses in total:D

I've tested the load as suggested. Getting a reading of 0.02 amps with ignition off. Tested voltage while running and getting 14.56 at battery terminals. ????

...and if there is something wrong with the split system/relay and one of the battery is on it's way out it will drain the other good one without showing any drain in serial connection with the car's electric equipment....i rest my case

I thought I only had 1

Ahh I think a few of us misread that.

You said you'd put 2 batteries in since April, and I read it as in April, you put in 2 batteries at the same time. So a dual battery system.

Maybe someone will give some better advice now, and glad it wasn't just me who read it wrong.

Sorry, the underlined affirmation made me think u have 2 batteries in it at the same time not one after another:doh:
