Hi i am a new member looking for some help please!
I have a 2002 range rover 4.4 v8 hse which today started to make a noise sounded like fan belt?? Then it stopped and the battery warning light came on and the power steering stopped working followed by blowing water out of the header tank and getting hot. I stopped let it cool down and topped up the water which lasted about a mile????? Help

seized or knackered water pump and a damaged serpentine belt would be my guess as the same happened to my mates 4.4

Changing water pump isnt too complicated if you have a day to spare. Water pump on ebay about £70. Remove radiator, remove belt, unscrew big nut holding on viscous fan (mine was seized on and I had to cut it off with bolt cutter and replace tviscous unit too, might be worth doing it anyway in case its the next thing to go). Unscrew about nine bolts on the front of engine block around the water pump circumference, and remove. Reassemble and.
Its probably about three garage hours at whatever ridiculous amount they decide to charge.
