HI all,

I replaced both my alternator and battery on my P38 4.0 (GEMS) in November last and all has been well since.

Last night I replaced the air filter. When I came to start it this morning the battery was flat. I found that I'd left the bonnet only partially closed, not fully latched in position.

Is there a 'closed' sensor on the bonnet that might have kept whichever ECU (and/or the BECM) running all night?

I only do relatively short journeys by and large, but I've had no other problems with the battery since I swapped it.

It's a 'feature' - if you leave the bonnet open it flattens the battery for you so that nobody can fiddle with the car's electrics. Probably.
