Morning all,
Vogue 2004
Be great for some pointers please? Just fitted a new battery to the vogue as old battery wouldn't charge anymore. I used to get hdc inactive before and happened this morning on start up..... It's a new battery and car was only left on drive 15 hours without being used..... I have looked around on net forums.....have read this happens on cold mornings ...is this normal or is something draining my battery. . ...?

I've read removing the remote heater fuse will stop this....? I did notice though when car off if I was waiting I can hear a buzzing noise constant down near the clock area. .?

Many thanks in advance

Final stage resistor, headlamp wipers not parking correctly or water in the electronics in the N/S rear of the boot seem to be the Favorites.

Hi datatek... Had had problem with water in the rear of the boot although think dry now.... Are there any fixes for this if not.? I don't have headlamp washers so the final stage resistor could be. the culprit. ....

Land Rovers answer to the wet electronics is a very expensive bit of plastic. A Tesco bag is just as good:rolleyes:

Funny you say that I've purchased that already 8 quid lol I'll check later and see if dry.... If this is all ok what's the best way of trying to locate this drain. ..? Many thanks for replies

On the Freelander 2 there is a common problem with the quality of the earth strap which causes the same fault on startup when the weather is cold (HDC fault, and also slow cranking), and the fix is a new earth cable connecting directly from the starter motor/engine/gearbox to the battery negative terminal.

Fitted a new unit this afternoon (fsr) the foot well heater is now working (noticed it wasn't when cold,)"" let's hope the hdc works all well tomorrow thanks all for input today

Have you reset the steering angle sensor??

Turn full lock then to full lock and back to centre....

Hiya No i will do .... does this have impact? After fitting new final stage resistor had HDC inactive again this morning although it was very cold..... is my battery still being drained? Also on another note I can hear a buzzing sort of noise bu the clock area whilst the car is off.... could this be a drain? thanks all

Buzzing noise behind dash is normal and it should stop after a few minuites.

It's something to do with the cabin air sensor for the climate control

Hi , don't know if this is of any use to you , but I have a 2001 P38 which was also suffering quick battery drain , I have just found the problem , I changed my broadband hub 4 weeks ago and the P38 started it's battery draining almost at the same time . Apparently the hub works on the same wavelength that affects the ecu's sleep mode not allowing it to shut down normally and it still " talks " every 15 mins , hence the quick battery drain ..I was advised if I hadn't recently changed a hub then try parking it approx. 100mts both sides from it's usual position !! I hope this is of some use .

Cheers Duncan

That doesn't affect the L322 and it would not affect your P38 if you fit the upgraded RF receiver.
Beware, if you do not update the receiver, you will get caught out at some point when the car either will not start or you cannot get into it.

Hi All- I've replaced the final stage resistor - new battery - reset steering wheel - had the HDC inactive this morning (funny though only on cold mornings) is this normal? thanks all

Pretty normal for it to flash up with the HDC fault when cranking the car on come mornings

There is a fix, but it involves changing an ECU

As long as it disappears once the car has started, you have nothing to worry about

mine does it but sometimes after a short journey then a restart or the odd cold morning , and its a 5 month old batttery not worth worrying about til it starts struggling to crank.
