Right, been having a drain problem for 2 years almost, on and off and now have some more info on it. Any help greatly appreciated guys. I've had a drain on my new Varta I1 battery that has sometimes been running it flat within a week to 10 days

Bought a fuse drain tester and found 3 fuses with a draw, they are:

Fuse 28 - headlight cleaning @ 0.12a

Fuse 27 - glovebox light @ 0.47a (when open)
@ 0.13a when closed

Fuse 12. Starts off at 1.28a
Drops to 0.82a after 10secs
Then sits at 0.26a

Are any of these 3 common issues? And how do I go about resolving them?

Many thanks in advance

P38?
The headlamp issue has come up before. The headlamp wiper motor jamming before it comes to rest - and off. Simply unplug the motors and see what happens.

L322 - same problem, the Headlamp wipers not parking correctly...

Cheers peeps

Saint V8 - I've pulled the fuse to see if it reset the wiper arm on headlight, but no. Even resorted it removing the arm from the shaft and moving it around a few notches so it sat right. Week later, one was indeed sitting below the headlight glass again (grrr). Been told next step to change the headlight wiper relay, in dash passenger side to the left of the cup holder. You access it from end panel.
Anyone know if a relay can be tested, before shelling out the £35 for a new one?
Cheers

Leave the headlight wiper fuse out to see if that's causing the problem or not first

Cheers Hippo, was going to but its only 1/3 of my total current drains, so not sure if leaving the fuse out would help determine if its the wiper relay causing the drain on the battery (for that circuit anyway)?

Pop out the glovebox bulb and pop out the wiper motor, you've just removed two drain issues. What does Fuse 12 power?

Fuse 12 is part of the Air Con System....

I wonder if it is the Final Stage Resistor Leaking to earth!

Gonna check RAVE to see what part of the AC system it is for!!

Yep Fuse 12 is a permanant Live to the HEVAC control unit.......

Not sure if the FSR does start to leak to earth before they give up or not...anyone know?

Well the usual reason for battery drains is usually the resistor if its the original one.

Mine had the same problem.
I think it leaks current down the motor circuit which will lead to earth hence draining the battery

Leave fuse 12 out first I say

Cheers guys

I replaced the FSR last winter (about a year ago actually, just before Xmas) so was doubting it'd go again, but read somewhere on another forum one user had replaced 3 in as many years? Is this common? Mine had the newer FSR fitted when I bought her, and I've put 1 new one in 12 months ago, should I get another and try that?

Is there anyway of testing the FSR, either while its in the car or once removed? I work with some electrical guys who are pretty clued up, but not too sure what they'd be checking for?

If you can find the pin outs for the resistor then you may be able to test it

But I would leave the fuse out first to see if its even the resistor at fault or not
