ok guys that bastid core plug at the back of the engine has gone, i'm told there's only one?
Is there any easy (easier) way to get the bloody thing out?
Can i get to it if i drop the engine? it got a 2" lift so does this give extra distance to lower the engine?
Any tips, advice appreciated

Thanks

trolley jack under sump and remove radiator & engine brackets then lower engine down till yu can get at core plug.

cheers, wasn't sure if i needed to remove the rad, is there only one core plug?

You'll stick the viscous fan into it as the engine tilts forwards if you don't or at least it will on a 200tdi.

assuming 300 will be similar.

its the one in the block, or at least it is now, managed to get a screwdriver in but the bastid won't pop out, it is the same size as the ones on the side ain't it?

Just a tip for you, having changed a number of core plugs in the past if you get a can of hamerite paint or similar and give the new plug several good coats of paint before fitting it then it will last a lot longer :)

all the ones in the block are all the same size its the one in the center of the back of the block you need to change not the one near to the o/s of the engine this one just covers the back of the cam shaft using the correct amount of antifreeze should help stop them rusting

Cheers, i have got the right one, can't try again till weekend due to having to work, not had it long so it could have been running without anti-freeze for quite a while, it won't be in future tho.

Thanks
