As per my previous Topic we are now very close to D-Day for a move to Hong Kong. I am still the proud owner of a V8 Discovery which I very much would love to keep but there is no way I can.

If you are interested in a 1998 V8i ES Spec with a fantastic professional gas conversion, Southdown steering guard QT Diff guard/Sliders and Old Man Emu +1" suspension you could be in for bargain of the year. I am asking £3,000 but I am very open to offers on this as the alternative is to go through a dealer.

The Gas conversion makes the car cheaper to run. It is probably cheaper than a Diesel Disco. We did a 300 mile trip to Wales on £30 and we normally get 150 miles out of a fill costing £20.

The car is fully fitted to go green laning with Front recovery points, steering guard, Diff guards and Suspension which were all fitted at the end of July this year. I spared no expense on them as I was planning on keeping the car for a long time and all in it cost over £1,000. The suspension is made up of the OME +1 inch springs and the Nitro Charger shocks, you will not find a better suspension set up for both road and trail.

Tax and MOT until July 07.

I might even through in my CB gear if your nice to me!

It has a full set of 5 Avon Ranger AT tyres which have performed fantastically in all situations.

Call me if you are interested, I might even through in my CB gear if your nice to me!

We fly out on the 20th of Dec. I can make arrangements if some one needs more time.

My Mobile Number is 07821 471 699

I'd love to m8, but any more than a grand and the missus would kill me ..... again!

Best of luck in Hong Kong.

I think you need to get this on Ebay, if you don't get any responses this weekend. You'll get 7 days to watch the bids go in, and with it being LPG, I think you'll get a good price for it.

If you do go down that route, make sure you give it a great write-up, with plenty of quality pictures. Detail the good points plus bad, and remember to list the standard Disco 'faults' that you have remedied. You might also be better off leaving out the fact that you have been green-laning/off-roading to any great extent!

TBH, you should get the 3K for it, if not more. I bought my '94 300tdi on Ebay for £2750, and although it was in great condition with near full dealer history, it did have 100,000 miles on the clock.

Offer add-ons, like 'can deliver (at 35p per mile return journey)', 'comes with full load of LPG', 'will be valeted (DIY)', etc.

i think its a really good deal. and id be very tempted if it was a tdi and i had the spare cash. she would kill me though.

id be interested in seeing what it gets on ebay. peeps generally dont like modified cars and they usually bring less money. so itll be nice to see what it does actually bring.

When I was looking at buying a Disco, I was torn between a Tdi and an LPG V8. The Tdi won out, ONLY because I couldn't find an LPG conversion with less than 100,000 miles on it, and as I had been warned of problems with LPG's with over 100,000 miles on the clock, I left them out of the equation.

Having said that, the LPG conversions also went beyond my allowed budget of £3K, and although they were sold by Ebay dealers (great photo's and 'professional' write-ups), I can't remember what year they were. I do recall that the pictures were mostly taken on a gravel driveway, outside a large stately home! Guess they wanted to suggest something.......... but it seemed to work!

makes sense dont it?
youde rather buy a car from chap in a detached house in weybridge, than a car pictured outside a council flat in merseyside.

It does, but then again I'm a suspicious git, so alarm bells were ringing in my head.....

Thanks Guys, the car is on ebay, starting at 2250 for 3 days. I will drop that if it doesn't go. Not to sure on the write up, hard not to get too personal but there has been some interest. Also had some interest on Autotrader.

Thanks again for all the tips and I will keep you posted....I might need to give it away!
