An updated one. I had another excellent weekend at Slindon

The saga continues. :D

On Saturday I went to see two subjects . One was a cheap-ish 110 CSW. Turned up at the dealer and once I finally got to talk to someone (after a good crawl underneath) I was told by the manager that I shouldn't just turn up and that I should book an appointment.
Anyway, the assistant guy finally got the keys (after he unlocked the doors with a Freelander key.), so we had a poke around it and it did start, but when we opened the bonnet it didn't have an oil filler cap, just bodge tape.
Anyway, it didn't seem to bad, but I didn't want to take it any further due to "not booking an appointment" so we skedaddled.

Anyway, so determined to not go back home "just yet" I rang up another one and agreed to go see it. 1h drive later we arrived to see a pretty tidy 2002 hard top 90. Doors rattled a bit, and such, but engine sounded sweet, there wasn't too much corrosion and it all looked like a go-ahead, until I drove it. It was gutless (posted about that in the TD5 section) :(. I also rang a pal up to get a long-distance 2nd opinion, and he told me that a 90 CSW, one I've seen, before might still be available. A bit of a wobble thrown in there.
So I left empty handed...

This morning I went to see the guy about the 90 CSW and he said he wouldn't sell it. :(

Here I am, pondering whether that 2002 90 HT is still available and whether I should go back to it. Or if I should exercise some patience (which I don't really have ).

:D :D

If its gutless then it needs money spending on it, my dad outed his td5 disco because after the head cracked, new head, new con rods due to the volume of diesel going into the bores when it cracked, they had bent. new this new that, blah blah blah. after thousands spent, not one person could put there finger on the reason for it being sluggish. it went to a lot of different specialists and they swapped/ tried everything and all agreed it was running about 80% power.

Very good points! I know it deep down that taking on a car that's not running perfectly is a gamble. So, I haven't. :D

Out of the blue, there was a blue one. Nearby, good ad, good spiel, honest description, good photos. All seemed to align up.
I even managed to go see it. Showed up, had a poke around, chassis seem solid, albeit with a tiny bit of surface rust - I can fix that. Very little rust at the underside of the doors. The rest of the car all seemed to be just fine. Started up immediately, didn't even smoke. Ticking over perfectly.
We went for a ride, no funny clonks, squeaks or noises, just a wonderful 5-cylinder note. Seemed to pull very well. Doors even stayed shut at speed.

And we've just agreed a price and pick-up date. :D :D Wednesday it is then! :D

Very pleased. Drives very well. Chuffed really. Looking forward to giving it a good clean and then off to the LRO show on Saturday. :) Then it's "personalisation" time. :)
