Head's a shed
As above, I removed the bell housing wading plug out of my brothers td5 and a ball bearing dropped out.
My first thought was release bearing? (well part of it) Or could it be something more sinister on the horizon.
Opinions please :)

So having found the above I though I'd see if there was anything else in there. And pulled this out.
Again my thoughts are spigot bush (Again part of it)

Has it had work done on it in the past and are there any issues changing gear?

No issues changing gear and all appears fine. Has been driven daily for about 8 months and never had any bother with it. I only realised today that it had a wading plug in it so thought best to remove it and said ball bearing just dropped out.

Previous owner had changed the box apparently. (For another second hand one) But seeing as he'd filled it with EP90 I wouldn't say I would trust his work.

I'm no expert with gear boxes but if it runs fine I would monitor it and keep your fingers crossed. They have probably been there since the work was done.

Me neither. To be honest I though ah **** at first. But when I thought about it it's been fine for the last god knows how many miles so it should be fine.

gearbox contains no ball bearings

Cheers that's good news :). Just the mystery of where it came from now.

R380 reverse detent ball ?

The old type series 3 front output shaft bearing (transfer box)?

Series gear selector detent ball ?

As far as I can see there is no way a ball bearing can reach the bell housing without a catastrophic failure somewhere.

Wading plugs look like this dont they?
