So my friend is rebuilding my 3.9 efi engine and has found the engine to have no valve stem seals! The rebuild kit contains them but they do not suit the heads. I bought the rebuild kit which matched my engines block number so the compression ration was correct.

I was told the engine was from a range rover. Are these heads from something else?]

Cheers.

early 3.9s pre 1994 used 4 rubber discs per side on inlets erc7865

Then again we remember finding plastic bits in the rovcker cover. I have heard its not worth replacing them as they'll just break up again?

Yes, just hoping they gave the right bits for my engine. Should be, ordered via code stamped on block

Valve stem seals in the 'ebay' gasket sets are nearly always the wrong size.

Last one we did we bought a Reintz gasket set which had the correct size seals.

I've got a picture somewhere, there is a big difference in seal diameter.

Here you go, ebay gasket set seals on the left, Reintz on the right, which also closely matched genuine seals from LR.
