it would never be that the injector has died would it?
Would expect that to show as a missfire not a vibration?! But it's down to you and your description on that one cos that's what we all go off

My IRD bearings are on their way out! That rumble is now apparrent over the noise from my mud terrains, it is throttle dependent, I can diagnose mine by grabbing the joint that comes out of the drivers side of the IRD, if it's sloppy and moves around you have an expensive problem! Mines got a new vcu and bearings already, easy way to diagnose that is to remove it and drive it, you can then spin the bearings by hand to check for roughness and noisehope that helps

right.the problem doesn't start immediatley.Have to drive hard for a few miles or else cruise at motorway speed for 15-20 miles before it starts.def rev related as leave off the throttle and it stops. Also stops if you accelerate for a bit too?
ah crapso do they really take out the drivetrain when they fail?am i ok to drive it once it isn't vibrating?
righto.cheers for that.another expense i can do without.how do freelanders handle icy weather in 2wd?
right so.i'll take the prop off at the weekend and see if that fixes it.if it does i'll look at the vcu.if it doesn't then IRD?Would these be intemittent though and load dependent?Drove to work keeping it under 60 today and there was no problem.
Why is the VCU a few hours of labour? Is it not a bolt off bolt on job with the prop out? Excuse my ignorance
