Was driving a pug boxer van this morning for work, f'ing knightmare!!!! Jumped in me freelander this avo and it was awesome. We've had 8" in West Lothian today and it's snowing like hell just now. So no work tomorrow but fun fun in the landy

These are fantastic in the snow, had 6 of em over the years. I'm a telecoms engineer and have to get to remote sites in all weather conditions. I could buy a new disco but prefer the little freelander as they are cheap as chips and so capable. Below is a picture from yesterday, one of our sites on the mountain above the Horseshoe pass in North Wales...

My Defender plodded along the country lanes quite nicely at 7am. It was amusing seeing drivers of 'zee German' RWD varieties going all over the place.

it’s the only time these german drivers are interested in our landies when there stuck

always helped out if there’s a family stuck , even been known to help a few police cars out in my time, but shhhhhh don’t tell everyone ;):D

Well the bairns school is open again today so I guess I will be going to work haha. Freelander cleaned up and warmed up ready to go. Looks horrible out there! Tempted to finish early and work from home later!

Just a normal winters day here. Cars have snow tires on which give them more grip than my Defender. Have to use the Defender on roads that the snow plow hasn't been down as the cars don't have sufficient ground clearance

Many years ago in my MGB-GT I hit black ice on the highway in Manitoba and went off at 80MPH ending up in the middle of a field and had to be dragged out by a highways truck. I had to drive the 1500 miles to Vancouver with no exhaust. Burned a valve and went through many litres of oil!
Best car I had for the snow was a Skoda 135i with Hakkapelittas all round. You couldn't get it stuck if you tried. The Hippo is pretty darn good too :)

There is something deeply satisfying about overtaking BMWs and Audis with their wide thin rubber band tyres spinning away on the snow. It helps I was in the 110 with new ATs and an LSD in the back axle.
More snow forecast tonight.

I saw some right ****s in those vehicles last night. Spinning tyres and smacking curbs with expensive 20" rims. Why don't these ****s stay off the roads, as it simply clogs them up for sensible 4X4 drivers.

As much as I trust my FL1 in the snow, I don't think I will be turning up for my night shift tonight.
It is raining lightly and as the rain lands it is freezing instantly on whatever it lands on. I will not risk my life on sheer ice.
I can't even see out of my house windows as they are covered with a coating of ice now.

Work won't be happy! :D
