cheers bud - as I don't have a splitter, so will see how I get on, or might just pay my local specialist to save another day on the drive in the rain!

I wish that was all that was on my MOT failure :(. I did my track rod and drag link before I took it too lol. I bought a ball joint splitter which was utter ****e and broke under some pressure. Big hammer and a few exploratory taps (egh em) and popped out no problem. Good luck with the other jobs. I only had 10 days for free re-test I've done 2 of the 3 pages of failures so far but the 10 days has expired!

yeah, the 10 working days isn't a long time really - said to mine that since he knew it wasn't a pass - why didn't he just ring me to tell me what needed to be done, and then I could work with a bit more lesuire and bring it back in for its pass, as I took it in a month before the ticket expires (just in case).....hopefully get all the work done soon....just waiting on parts to land now.

Off to motor factors at lunch to pick up a splitter, so hoping this will be better than what other folk have had....

Sounds like my failure sheets ! lol i think id invite my family round for a bbq and beers to celebrate if my mot was like the op's ! on a disco :D

Well, my new track rod ends landed yesterday - still waiting for the brake hoses, which hopefully should land for the weekend, so thought I would get started.

So whilst it was jacked up with wheels off, I found the 'hole' the MOT man spotted

certainly wasn't like that when I took it, so reckon he has been out with his hammer! But can't do anything about that now, so went to work patching it up...welded the patch and then seam sealed it - not the prettiest job, but its not for looks ;)

and then a spot of rust proof paint...

One job done :D

Then onto the TRE's - typlically one side was 'easy' so to speak, certainly glad I bought the splitter tool - really helped a lot, but the passenger side was a sod - could I heck get it out of the actual rod - so after 2 hours of cursing etc, finally got it twisted out - it gave a good fight...

and here are the new Bearmach ones next to the old ones - complete with grease nipples, so will keep them greased up regularly and they should last ok

So 5 hours spent last night, and just the brakes left to do for the ticket....

hitting the side of arm next to the joint is much better than a splitter , those sills are rotten i think its a bit late for paint

Tried the hitting of the arm, nothing, so went to the splitter which worked really well, and as I said, that was the easy part, it was unscrewing it from the arm that took the time.

As for the sills, they are not too bad, that was the last bit that I hadn't already replaced, so reckon its ok now - plan to change them in the warmer months for box section anyways, so although they need to be good for the MOT, don't want to spend too much time when I am going to be cutting them all out, if that makes sense.

Brakes all done....went from this....

to this....extended 40mm braided hoses - also changed the rears whilst I was at it too....

Also oil leak was a fuel leak - coming off the injector spill pipes, so new ones fitted and all is good.

Just got back from my retest with a nice new ticket for the year :D

Happy days again!
