I've just finished replacing the bulkhead on my 200tdi Defender went for first test drive as I was about to set off the rain came on so flicked wipers on and they went down instead off up.. When I fitted them to bulkhead I replaced the wheel boxes and the wiper cable. They worked fine before I removed bulkhead just bit sloppy hence changing cable and wheel boxes the park switch is only a year old. I know this has probably been done too death but any advice appreciated hopefully it's just something simple like fitter error. Here's a pic off how they sit in park they also work fine just backwards.

You've put the wheel boxes in upside down.
Did the same thing myself many years ago and joined Landyzone whilst seeking an answer.

Doh!! Lol thanks for the quick reply Trewey makes sense and at least it's going be an easy enough fix my dash pad was coming off again anyways I'll just blame my dad lol:oops::oops:
 
Feel for ya but, the best time to take a dash out is probably when you've just put it in.

It doesn't looks as bad now that everything is fitted covers most of the bad workmanship that I had taken pictures of in bulkhead thread. But there is one thing you can't miss on passengers side here's a pic see if you can see it

drivers side windscreen frame lines up perfect passengers side bulkhead sits out about 4-5mm
 
Hmmm, that doesn't look great on that close up picture. :mad: Bloody hell. A tack weld and a check with a tape measure is all that's needed. Surely!
On a positive note, your windscreen seal looks well compressed. Mine looks barely under pressure. I've got a leak through on to the accelerator pedal but, I'm hoping it's the vent flap seal.
 
Drivers side is not as compressed as passengers was a total mare fitting the windscreen. Overall I'm happy that it's all done replaced both outriggers cleaned and Dintrol'd chassis fitted new polybushes had gearbox out(another companies shoddy work) bar a bit snagging it's finished for now! hopefully chassis will last a few more years before replacing. As for the quality off bulkheads workmanship I'm far from happy if I see them at the Show tomorrow I'll be letting them know what I think.https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/torsionbhuddas-defender.289622/
 
Yeah, I noticed the driver's side wasn't so compressed. Still tighter than mine. :)
looking through all of your work again it looks spot on and should last a long time. Doing the outriggers is a temporary fix, hopefully a long time though! I had to replace one outrigger and the rear cross-member, about three years before the restoration. To be honest it was other corrosion, other than the chassis, that pushed me to finally take it off the road. You've done a load of work doing the bulkhead though! When it comes to changing the chassis, the bulkhead already being sorted will be a massive advantage at that time. Well done, mate. Great work. :)

Thanks mate Really appreciate it I'd love to do a full rebuild like yours one day just trying do as much improvements and replacements as I can without taking it off road for an extended time need it when I'm home from work. I may need to revisit the bulkhead mounting door alignment is narrow on drivers and quite wide on passengers thinking I need to remove the washer spacer on passengers side but going wait till I have new doors and hinges before doing that.

With the bulkhead spacer washers, I realised there are a number of factors that you have to keep an eye on and get the 'best fit' for all of them. I reckon where the windscreen frame bolts to the roof acts as a pivot point for the bulkhead. Adjusting the washers rotates the bulkhead about that point and this has a large effect on the latch end of the door. how the latch striker works and how the profile of the door lines up with the profile of the tub.
I ground a taper on the bulkhead bolt, so it was easy to knock it through as it self guided.
