I get a google map through the app and the hyperlink in the text.
Brown's monthly subscription might have a custom map, but no idea what it is based on.
yeah but is the hyperlink in your text message not a link to a google map?

Yeah, John. That's what I meant. The hyperlink in the text is a link to google maps too. Sorry, that wasn't clear in my post.

I thought thats what you meant wasint too sure though. Brown I think is also getting google maps if he's using the same app we are then I cant see how he's getting a map from another source?

He's not using the app. He's got one of the £250 jobs with a monthly subscription and gets a username and password to the Back2You website. When he logs on he gets that map on which he can plot his journeys etc.

more money than sense :)

Are you talking about me? Of course I've got more money than sense. I have a Land Rover after all. If I wanted budget motoring I'd probably have a Nissan Micra.

The map I get is OS open source I'm pretty sure, as it has different stuff on than the Google version.

good point well presented :) what system do you have and subscribe too?
when you say different stuff what kind of different stuff do you get?

Well, it's just different from the Goolge version - different colours and different details. Like that picture I posted a few messages ago with the Aldi store on it. That shows up on the Google map John 03 linked to, but the details differ, like the aisles in the car park. I've subscribed to the Back2you fleet tracker thingy, where they give you a password to log into a secure website where you can generate reports of the vehicle's activity, plot its journeys on the map etc. I've quite often posted screen grabs on here to show where I've been - Scotland, Wales, Cornwall etc. I was just curious as to the map they use because it must be a third party one (they won't have created their own) and it must be either free or fairly cheap. I'm now 99% certain it's from OS Open Source.

Found it! Back 2 You use Open Street Map. I've just had a look at them and they're identical. Though of course Open Street Map look a lot like OS Open Source.
