Pressed the starter.. nada.. checked battery connections.. jump leaf direct to starter.. not a lot, just a slight whir :( guessing that's what went pop. Hopefully a brush broken?
Will need to take it off to see

Has the starter got its own piggy back solenoid or a remote chassis mounted one?

Tried to get the exhaust off.. the 2 easy ones came off easy, the one at the back is a funky size
That's manifold off i reckon.
Why is everything so hard work? :(

Starter off and stripped down, cleaned up and put back together. It now works with gusto again. Result!!
It had the shock of its life when i connected the jump leads! Looked like something out of the movies when they use a defibrillator

On the flip side I'm not sure it's a landy starter, but it fits and has been on for at least 30 years and isn't showing much wear

Well the starter didn't do much, pressed the button and the headlight tail came on, that's all!!
Need to check the battery earth with a jump lead.

The old oil has been in for at least a decade.. do i drain and refill, or start up and warm, then drain and refill? I'll bet there's a lot of sludge in the sump that won't drain from cold

Take the sump off, to check the porosity of it as well as clean and check oil pick up, don't forget to replace any 'O' rings on pick up and dipstick tube ...

The brass filter on the end of the petrol pipe is knackered, will remove it and put an in-line filter somewhere that's easier to get to and clean

Fuel plumbed in, carb full, no leaks.

Spark getting lost in the dizzy somewhere, i can hear it escape? Good spark to the dizzy though so that's a start.
The cap looks good and the rotor arm looks good.. hmm...

Oopsie, need brake cylinders! Already got flexi hoses
Coolant refreshed, so that's another tick!!
