Hi All,

Just bought myself a 2010 Autobiography L322 and thought I would create a post just to say how great they are.
Mine is a 3.6 TDV8 with 140,000 and thenewer TFT screen.
As with all the cars I buy especially RangeRovers the battery died within a couple of days, to be fair the previous owner said the car had been standing for a few months inhis business car park.
Anyway I charged the battery and back in the car now, just checking everything works.
So far all that I can find that is not is the volume control on the steering wheel and I know it worked on my way home, my question guys is the hard reset still viable on the later L322s ?
Removing and shorting the battery lead’s together after leaving off for a period of time ?
Assuming the gremlins have been caused by the battery dying.
The other thing was the CD player that initially played 20 seconds of a disc then froze now just displays invalid disc.
Guess that’s the laser either needing a clean or duff but did see posts on other forums saying to give the CD changer a clump and that might bring it back to life ?
Only down side is now have to part company with my Sport that after a few initial problems has been totally reliable for the past 3 years

Hi @markieboy123 welcome to the Range Rover fold. Nice clean looking ride, hopefully all the mechanicals are in as good condition. Personally I’d let the electronics settle down for a few weeks before chasing ghosts. As for the CD changer, it may be that it’s not had much use and a few attempts at loading may see it right, failing that pull the power off it and see if it re-sets before getting it checked or swapped out.

appears to be well looked after and drives lovely.
You could be right about the electrical issues may let it settle in as you say and if it starts to bug me will look more into it.

Forgot to ask, does anyone know what voltage a good battery should read connected up to the car?

this one showed 11.97v this morning and will check what the charging voltage is when I run the car at idle later today

You need 12V+ before it comes off the charger and running 13-14V.
Seriously, you’ll have all kinds of issues if the battery is low on an L322. Also make sure there’s no damp anywhere near the fuses and control modules (that’s everyware basically) LR have them hidden all over the damn vehicle. I use dehumidifier pillows in the glove box and boot area to ward off evil damp spirits as the can eat the connector terminals at will. If the Bluetooth module is fitted that usually gets any water that makes its way past the parcel shelf sides.

never heard of dehumidifier bags are they like the silica pouches you get in new electrical goods ?
Will be checking the boot area where a lot of the audio and nav kit is

11.97 is a dead battery. Half an hour after coming off charge you should see 12.7 volts. With the engine running your should see 14.7volts or more initially.
When lead calcium batteries get that low, they often do not recover, a capacity check may show it now has only 60% capacity or less.
Poor batteries lead to all sorts of electrical gremlins.

The battery is only a year old so hopefully the previous owner has the receipt and I can exchange it

Hi you can find them at all good car accessory stores lol. They soak up any moisture and then you microwave them to reuse them.

I've just ordered a new one for mine. Get a good AGM 019 - Bosch seem to be the cheapest at the mo from batterymegastore

AGM batteries are not really suitable for a standard alternator set up, the best for older cars is the MF31-1000 from Battery Megastore but check it will fit your car

I usually go for the Varta silver line batteries

Not that good IMO, will not start my tractor in winter, I have 2, they lack capacity in cold weather, nowhere near as good as the MF31-1000 and a lot more expensive.

Yeah, generally though it is specified more recently from LR (and many owners) that the 2010-2012 4.4 tdv8 should be run with an AGM

As I said, not suitable for older cars, fine for the newer vehicles with managed charging.
 
Seems to be a lot of confusion for me anyway
Mine is the 3.6 TDV8 2010 MY with the newer digital dashboard.
Has the start button on the dash but not sure if it has the stop start function.
Also I was not aware any programming was needed when changing the battery, is it option within the onscreen menu ??
