I have a 53 plate Discovery which we have had for 3 years. Ever since we got it, whenever there is wet weather, the back end slides when going round sharp bends or roundabouts, unless, that is, you go at a real snails pace and even then it doesn't feel safe. It doesn't just happen when I drive, my husband has the same thing happen to him. Neither of us are speed merchants, and can't understand why this is happening. We have changed tyres since first acquiring the car and the same thing occurs. Any suggestions as to why this is happening and any solutions? Is this is a common thing?

the other thing to check is springs. if the rear springs (if coil) are stiffer than standard and the front are standard, it will tend to slide more easily.
Has it always happened whilst you've owned the vehicle?
Do you or your husband know what to look at underneath when checking springs, bushes etc?
Post where you live (town) and someone local might have a looksee for you to at least determine if things are reasonable, or if things need looking into further.

Hi everyone sorry for the delay, Blimming computer went down. Tyres are Grabber AT2s and pressures were low (well below 2 bar) so have inflated them to correct pressures (2.6 bar) and hope this goes a long way to solving the prob. As far as we know the car has never been used for off roading (too clean).

I find AT2's are a little skittery in the wet, if it's used on the road then I would only put the AT2's on in the winter. Get some road tyres on it, look at the sites that give wet braking/steering scoring, I noticed a set of Pirelli's I think were 90% in the wet, I'll be having a set of them next time I think!

If its on a different set of tyres and still the same, it may be worth looking elsewhere too. I've got two sets of wheels for mine standard 16s with bfg ats and RR 20s with crappy road tyres, neither make it do it! How many miles has it done? Is the suspension original? Is it knackered? Check shocks, bushes etc and not just at the back! If you still think its the tyres try and borrow some off one that doesn't do it, if it fixes it, tyres, if not keep looking
