I know most people have swing away spare wheel carriers.. But if I mount the wheel direct on the door, how long will it take to knack the hinges or the door itself??

Ive heard of doors buckling, them cracking, and hinges failing.. Are these thins really happening or is it scaremongering?

Cheers

Swing away or inside on the bulkhead, not on the door or bonnet, kills the door and on the bonnet, makes it stupid heavy and you can't see jack **** off road.

It cant go on the bonnet or on the bulkhead.

The bonnet has big fire hoses on it. The bulkhead is full of other ****.

Looks like the spare will stay at home, or get wedged inside the back door somehow.

Thats a bit silly, Buster. How are yu gonna get it off if yu need to use it? Most peeps bolt theirs . Musta bin good glue tho:D.

I have this problem too........
I have a rear door and bonnet option.I have removed my rear exhaust and am looking today at an underslung with the rear exhaust re-routed...

Alot of work - But, How about cutting the tub floor and making a "well" for the spare wheel to sit in. Hinge a false floor on it and all is good. Spare wheel is out of the elements, Not in the way and won't get nicked!

Leave it at home and get tin of tyre weld and or a 12v compressor.

The only problem with that is that if you do damage the tyre so it can't be repaired with the tyre weld, your recovery company will only tow you a max of 10 miles as your vehicle should be fitted with a spare.

been considering that.
its tight for a big tyre but that could be an option.Normall sized wheels would go under but who wants small wheels...

...its like weeing on ya toe caps innum....:D:D:D

Under what circumstances is that true, Ratty? Coz that cant be true of all vehicles. There must be some form of rider?
