so damper detached, usual rotten chassis, cut the area flush, and plated it, just need to attach top bracket somehow
Not the prettiest of welds but strong enough, got a plate for inside and bottom also
When I tore the bottom end off a LH rear shock on my D1 the axle was able to travel down far enough to allow the coil spring to come out. We were in very rough terrain though, lots of fun getting the spring back in in the middle of nowhere and chaining it in at the top spring seat to keep it in for the 300klm drive home..
Maybe if you can lift the chassis high enough you wont need a spring compressor.
