I have just bought a Discovery 2.5D '04 registration and am having trouble getting the boot seats up. I have the bottom of the seats down but can not release the back of the seats. I have tried to follow the instructions on the back of the boot door but to no avail. Help me ... I have 4 kids and desperately need those seats up !!

I can't get mine to work either. I think the backs will only lift into place when the bases are thoroughly locked into the boot floor - apart from that, there's no real trick to them, I believe.
 
There is a trick - at least on my 2002 face lift there is.

Twist the handle on the seat squab.

Its all in the Owners Manual

If you have a boot mat fitted -

I find that sometimes the bottom of the seat doesn't lock if any of the mechanism is touching the rubber mat. The back won't lift until the bottom is locked in place.

also

I take it you are moving the little handle on the seat as I have to push that forward to release the back.

Don't know if you have a manual or not so I've attached the relevant pages.

Mine the same!

I just de-catch it from the floor and give it another firm " snap " down.

There is a bit of a Knack to it !
