Ive been thinking of doing b+e as well recently. Google turned up a few places near me. I think the test has to be at a vosa site though, normal test centres can't do the tests apparently.

B is a car licence. They stopped giving the trailer towing part for test done after about jan 1996 I think. I missed the cut off by about a month.

Apparently you can tow up to 750kg just with b though.

Most HGV and PSV training centres will offer B+E as well, coz as said..it is tested at VOSA station, not like car test. Google - or ask any of the local car driving instructors if they know of anyone doing it....:)

I passed in Dec 95, which means i also have C1+E & D1+E, this is printed on the back of the photo license.

Direct.Gov website states:
'All drivers who passed a car test before 1 January 1997 retain their existing entitlement to tow trailers until their licence expires'

Just check the codes on your license (bk of photo section).

so what happonds if you pass your class 1 hgv ??? are those entitlements automatically added to your driving licence ????????

Yes but I think if you don't have D1 then you will still need to sit that test.

I have heard that the B1+E is tested at the same standard as C1+E.

To sit the Class one (C&E) you already need to have passed Class 2 (C)
Passing C automatically gives you C1, and Passing C&E gives C1&E and B&E as automatic upgrade. see :How to add higher categories to your driving licence (staging and upgrading) : Directgov - Motoring

Bus categories (D1, D, and D&E) are not affected by HGV passes, and need to be passed seperately.
