Well only had my defender 110 for about 5 months, checked the axle oil levels, when tightening the rear drain plug back up ended up winding it all the way in and OOPs the bugger fell into the diff. managed to take off the diff. cover and found the plug, should this be able to screw all the way in ??

its easy to over tighten on a salisbury axle as covers only thinnish tin

It's easy to do, the plug doesn't seat as such it just tightens up in the thread.
