Evening all,

I've just put 2 new genuine metal aux idlers on my 4.6 Thor. When fitted there is a tiny amount of movement on both of them. Is this normal or should I return them? I mean next to nothing but the likes of the water pump have no play at all.

Now then, are they à decent quality pulley?
If they are a certain britpart make then no...
Britpart do some good stuff as long as moving parts are not involved :D
 
Hi,

No, they are quiet and smooth. All good apart from the tiny amount of movement which I'm not sure is a problem or not. The old ones were the plastic ones and totally shot so it's hard to compare against them.
 
Fair point, there could be a touch of play for expansion and heat. Maybe we are worried about nothing. As long as the bearings are quiet, take confidence in the construction and fit the buggers. ;)
 
Yeah that is possible. I am probably worrying over nothing. Something I do alot. See how they go, put a new tensioner and belt on as well. Thanks for your help.
 
Not a problem, I work with car parts all the time and I also have my doubts from time to time. We have to put our faith in the manufacturing and design and have a bit of trust. It pays to be careful ;)
 
Today I went out early to swap my repaired wheel then all four lights on the EAS switch came on again:rolleyes: fault showed at last as the front left height sensor so,changed it, found the electrical connector full of crap,cleaned it and checked the other three, left rear was barely connected and also full of crap. Went on to grease the propshafts , check the gearbox, transfer box and axles oil levels. May do the engine oil and filter tomorrow weather and tiredness permitting.;) When I parked the Bastid up,the EAS fault had cleared, said very quietly and the volume on the telly high in case it hears me:D:D
