hi need help
My p38 suffered from a major front prop shaft break at around 50mph.
It cause damage to the autobox sump, wiring loom and put a big dent in the passenger foot well.
It has been with 2 garages and so far they have been able to get it to select 3rd neutral reverse and that is all, it is showing a solinoid 4 fault but when all solinoid are checked they are working.
I am suspecting that the gearbox ecu has beeen shorted out when the wiring loom was damaged.

Question is can I just fit another one? Or do they have to be programmed to talk with the other ecus

Has anyone ever had a similar issue.

Sounds to me like the reverse gear sprag clutch is duff. Sudden shock loads can wreck them as I found out years ago when I was a young lad trying to wheelsspin my old granada!

Wow! anything is possible. If the wiring loom was cut it will most likely have sent a signal the wrong way when it went. ecu would not like that. I have a similar prob on mine. Fortunately it was just the auto sump and front trans mounts that took the hit. Im not showing any trans faults though with just the sump dent. keep us posted.
