Hi everyone
Can you help? What do I do after resetting adaptive gearbox settings. Do I drive it as gently as I can or do I have to drive it in all gears ie 1st 2nd 3rd and drive or do I cruise it down motorway or drive it hard using kick down ect can anyone help?

I couldn't find any answers anywhere else so didn't know what to do. Just to let you know I have a problem when I put my foot to the floor the auto-box changes up and down then up and down like kangerewing normal driving is fine and nice and smooth I asked nanocom about this and they said to reset adaptive values any thoughts
 
The kangarooing sounds more like overboost than the box shifting up and down. Use your Nanocom to make sure the boost pressure stays under 230Kpa under full throttle / load conditions.If it goes over 230 the engine ecu will cut fuelling to avoid engine damage. As the fuel is shut down the boost dies down so the ecu restores the power. Loads of stuff on here about it. An adaptive reset will do nothing for your issue,the adaptions make fine adjustments to the shift quality,not major changes.
 
Drive as normal. Consider changing the gearbox fluids and internal filter.

Have changed gearbox oil and filters and rechecked levels all OK haven't reset adaptive values to gear box yet (too scared!) but if I do I will just drive it normally thanks for the information

I doubt it is overboost as that requires an ignition off/on cycle to reset on a TD5. Overboost triggering ECU limp mode will not cause surging or at least I have never experienced it in many years of TD5 ownership and spannering.
 
Well,I can only say I have seen loads over the years that will overboost and kangaroo - probably into the hundreds after all the TD5 years. Most of them will do it if you drive them hard enough,my own DII auto with Alive map will do it every time I gun it. Its because I rarely drive it and the wastegate must be half seized.
First time I saw it was on an army 110 that was towing a satellite dish unit and bound for Iraq.It had been sat in a hanger unused for six months and the wastegate was solid. Bit of hammering and WD40 and it was loaded on one of those huge Russian transport planes ready to go.
