My 300 tdi auto (manul pump edc removed) gearbox is on its way out

anyone fitted in a manual box or is it not worth the drama and just source a second hand auto box again ?

quite fancy a man box as the engine and body is solid on my Disco so dont really want to sell if for another Disco with a man box fitted

anyone done the conversion ?

You will need:
manual pedal box
clutch master cylinder (and pipe work)
clutch slave cylinder
manual gearbox complete with bell housing/gearstick
manual engine backplate
flywheel and bush
clutch kit
Rubber gaitor and retaining "ring" that goes under the centre console
various gaskets (depending on what else you end up taking off)
you might need a manual centre console (you do on a 200tdi).
I started to convert my 200 but unfortunately had to stop. It's all quite doable. Replacing the pedal box was a pain and removing/installing gearbox and transfer box was hard work as they're pretty heavy and I was doing it on the drive using trolley jacks.

I am in the same boat, I love my disco auto, but I am starting a new job soon and my 8 mile round trip commute to work each day is going up to 33 miles. So I want to go manual and keep the EDC.

As I need the disco for my daily, I will be installing the pedal box, hydraulics and if needed a new center console over a weekend so I can continue driving it with the clutch pedal not used. And then installing the gearbox over the following weekend.

But before all that, I will be converting the manual bell housing to accept a crank sensor along with reference points on the manual fly wheel.

Fingers crossed...

Why ? for fuel economy ? or .
The auto for me is fantastic off road and on , no ache in the leg stop start stop start .so much less effort required its great :)

Shameless plug.

I've got a full manual pedal box inc brake servo and fluid reservoir for a mere £10 if it's any good to anyone. :D

Is something that needs doing for the manual conversion? Not heard that before and I'm going to start on my manual conversion soon

no just for the edc fly by wire type pump , (which i prefer faster response at the pedal) my auto disco pulls a LOT faster than my manual disco . loads of manual disco's about id just buy a complete disco tbh , save agro and time .

thats what i do get a block welded to flywheel housing drill out to take sensor and fit 4 8mm threaded bar equally spaced at 90 degrees filed to the right clearance for sensor

Ah I see, never had EDC so not worried about it. My auto pulled pretty well tbf but always preferred my old manuals and then when this box packed up I decided that was enough excuse to convert it. It's a solid truck with minimal rust so worth the conversion as far as I'm concerned.

Well I have been offered a auto with a edc engine wich is stuffed (cooked it) really been look after tho and I have 2 manuals but rusty 1 I'm re doing the is to far gone so I thought about making a edc manual

Well i started the conversion and it's quite easy to do but I'm putting a manual engine and gearbox together you need the pedals from the manual which just unbolt the black plate it is bolted to comes all complete and just bolts in on the auto body with out any mods at all [emoji3]
