I have a 1998MY 4.6 V8 auto.
Does this car use any safety interlocks for the auto gearbox?
I can select any gear with my lever without using the button on the lever. Even from drive to reverse. I can get it out of park without having to press the brake pedal too.
I know LR made it different for different markets, but I suspect mine is either worn or broken.
The only other P38 I can check against is a manual so I thought I'd ask on here.
In standard UK trim, what do you have to do to get out of park and change gears?
Also, I don't seem to be able to select 1. The lever will go to the 1 position, but the dash display just shows 2. I suspect my xyz switch for this, but if my selector gate is not working properly then I suppose this could be the cause of that too?
