You could use it as a flushing fluid. However it doesn't meet the specification of the ATF-U suggested above. So it'll need to come out afer a few miles, to prevent damage.

If the fluid you have received meets Dexron lllH spec then it's okay. Dexron llIH is an improved version of Dexron lll which is an improved of Dexron llD, the list goes on.

Dlll isn't actually approved for the Jatco box used in the FL1. The reason for this is Dlll didn't actually exist at the time. Dll was used in FL1 in the US with many box failures attributed to it's use. So it's best to stick to fluids that specifically say they are an equivalent to the LR spec Texaco N402.
This is why many recommend Carlube ATF-U, as it's listed as a N402 equivalent on the bottle. ;)

I'd have no issues using it as a flushing fluid. I use cheap Dll to do just that. After a few miles, I replace it with ATF-U. This takes out more of the dirt, and gives a final fluid change of the correct spec. ;)

That's a large contradiction on what u stated in this forum in 2012.

Probably.
Opinions change as more information is learned. I knew little of the Jatco back then. It is a fussy box, and expensive to repair. So it makes sense to give it the correct spec fluid to help it's longevity. I recently stuffed my own Jatco by letting it go a bit to long between fluid changes. So my thoughts now are, it's definitely worth making sure the fluid is at least compatible with the original LR spec. However I still maintain that the original LR N402 was basically an improved version of Dll. I just prefer to use a fluid that actually says it's a compatible fluid with the old Texaco N402 spec.
