Hi all,

I have a small issue and i'm looking for some wisdom.. I drove my 2001 D2 TD5 Auto to work this morning all good no issues.. at the end of the day I gets in and it wouldn't start straight away, never done it before.. took a couple of goes, started but really rough, couple of revs of the accelerator and all good again, then the sport mode and manual mode lights start flashing on the dash and i'm in limp mode... Now this used to happen in my last D2 due to the XYZ switch needing to be changed.. it would usually happen when switching between drive and revers and back... simply turn off ignition turn back on and it would reset..

I tried this and still the 2 flashing lights and still in limp mode.. I got home left her for 30 mins tried her and issue gone, everything back to normal..

Now i know it happens, could mean the xyz issues has caught up with me in this new D2, but its the starting issue where all this began that is throwing me. she usually starts on the button and after she did start she ran as smooth as ever, its making me think this was an electrical problem that effected starting and the gearbox.. it's 16P engine BTW... any advice would be great.

poss could have a low battery with struggling to start this brings up m&s lights then with drive home could have put some charge in battery

I'll test the battery tomorrow, it doesn't sound like that as it turned over ok, or so it seemed, not always obvious when battery is tired is it..

The Td5 engine ECU requires a battery voltage of greater than 10.5 volts while cranking to work properly, immaterial of whether it's a manual or automatic vehicle.

Wish i had a nanocom for that... if anyone in manchester area has one and would like to help .... ;)
