Hi chaps,

I am doing various bits and bobs to my disco 300 tdi auto edc, just getting it factory fresh or as close to it as I can, while waiting for my EDC chip to arrive.

(I will get a build thread going soon)

I am going to be starting a new job soon which will mean going from doing a 8 mile round trip to a 32 mile round trip. So...

As much as I enjoy having an auto for the lazy, low speed control factor, I need a manual disco for the better mpg.

I am going to keep the EDC but adapting the flywheel and bell housing.

My question is, if I remove the box and converter (recently serviced and very good condition), is anyone in the market for an auto box? What I dont want to do is shove it one a popular online auction site when somone might want one on here.

I did consider just trading it for a manual, but I want to try tuning the EDC.
 
Its not too complicated to get the edc to work (i hope/assume)
The flywheel needs some reference points added to is for the crank sensor, and the crank sensor needs fitting to the manual bell housing.

I assume the auto flywheel has 4 pickup points as opposed to using the missing tooth method?
 
yes you need to drill flywheel and fit 4 studs at 90 degrees ,then grind /file the studs to just miss sensor
 
ok good, not too much of an issue, edc manual should be better on fuel than the non edc in standard tune, and slightly more responsive.
 
Anyone know of a good writeup of the process of converting to manual transmission EDC?

the main parts is a post or 2 above, then connect the 4 pin auto plug ,2 for reverse swith and the other 2 join together to get rid of inhibitor
 
Not meaning to be controversial here but why would anyone want to keep the EDC system when changing from autobox to manual?

1. The EDC system is, in general, not that reliable (and has that stupidly expensive and difficult to find 4th non std. injector)

2. It supposedly boosts power from 111bhp to 122bhp - well so what!!! With a manual pump and no cost tune you'll equal that & more!!!!

No crank sensors, no funny injectors, no MAF just pure reliable simplicity.

Just my thoughts, feel free to shoot 'em down...........................
