Like i said in the title i want to upgrade the audio in my freelander 1 facelift.
I changed the radio unit with a 7inch android touchscreen and i've noticed that only the left speakers work, and the right tweeter a little bit.
I was thinking into uprgadint to a harman kardon system but i dont know if its compatible with my navi and if its worth it.
So guys, what do you think i should do?

Replace the main door speakers with some that work. There's little point in fitting the HK main speakers as they're very expensive and only slightly better than the standard speakers. You can get some very decent 6 1/2" speakers that will fit, providing you don't go for some with huge magnets, or fit spacers if you do want huge magnets. ;)

Nodge has it right there (as usual).
Your speakers not working will be due to corrosion because of moisture ingress in the doors. Just replace them with some off the shelf jobs. Nodge recommended these to me. I was very pleased, especially for the price...

Hi can you give details of the head unit and the loom adaptor you used as I would love to do the same. Does the steering wheel audio and skip function still work?

Many thanks Nick

Ps agree about off shelf speakers... I got ones without built in tweeters as already have them separate. Jvc 20 quid... Sound good enough. Its worth using gaffer tape to repair the plastic membrane and sponge spacers under the door card to prevent buzzing and buy some door card levers from ebay fir about 3 quid makes job sooooo much easier and saves damage to door card.

Sorry to hijack this a little but two things one, will these fit the back speakers ok? and two,are these a lot better than the standard ? I ask this because I changed my head unit with am alpine and to my ears the standard ones sound pretty decent . I was thinking of just using sound deadening ,an amp/sub and keeping the original ones, but for the price if these are better I might change them

Yes, but you need to drill the fixing holes, as LR used a non standard hole spacing.

I tested the standard speakers with various test tones and frequency sweeps. They are actually pretty good at producing music at moderate sound levels. At higher sound levels, the cheap pulped paper cones start to loose structural integrity, which causes break up of the sound reproduction.

The JVC sound different to the factory speakers but can provide more decibels. They sound tigher and more controlled than the floppy paper cones of the OE speakers. Because the JVC have more power motors, the door starts to rattle more, which colours the sound. So adding sound deadening and some sort of rattle insulation becomes more important.
I've found that the JVCs aren't as efficient as the OE speakers, but they'll take much more power, which is a benifit if a powerful HU is fitted.
