Hi my 2003 tdi often but not always chimes 3 times after i start the engine . The warning lights however have all gone out by this time. Is this a fault or normal?

Also this evening the TC, ABS and hill descent lights came on whilst i was driving. I pulled over turned off the engine and then started it up again. The lights did not come up again. Is this an electrical fault?

Any help greatly appreciated

The three chimes at start up are due, I believe to the ABS system "getting settled". Apparently it is normal.
As for the TC, ABS and HDC lights, I would suggest you do a search for "3 amigos"

If you read you owners handbook you would have found this. :)

NOTE: Faults which cause the ABS light to
illuminate after the initial system checks, or
whilst driving, will be accompanied by a
warning chime sounding 3 times.

the three chimes are normal, ABS settling in, the TC, ABS and the HDC lite up on my Landy, turned out to be a wheel hub assembly, approx £200 but easily fitted, the code reader will even tell you which one

My 2002 facelift car never used to do it, however, since I have fitted a later style BCU, ( which doesnt put the 3 amigos on if started when CDL is engaged ), I now get the occasional 3 bongs as described above.

Cheers.

interesting how sone chime some dont. Oh well might get it checked out anyway
thanks

The chimes can be changed, mine chimes when i leave the key in but it can be switched off using a Nanocom. Mine used to chime 6 times, it was to do with the alarm but sorted it with the Nanocom
