Lift drivers seat, remove panel underneath and undo fuel feed pipe for the engine, so it may start but not for long!

Best thing to do instead of removing anything.

Just sleep in the back of it tonight, maybe invite a couple large mates round to have a late night BBQ and camp out on the front garden, then give the thieving Barstools what for when they come back.

Long Term: (as above really)
Alarm + Imobliser
DiskLok
Wheels on Full Lock
Use the Pedal Lock rather than Clutch claw.

Parently you can get a clutch claw off fairly easily (as said above) as it allows the barstools to get tools in behind where as the Pedal Lock it covers the entire foot well so you cant get at it or the pedals to get it off.

P.s Hope you catch the fu*kers tonight!!

No such luck I'm afraid. Waited up all night, not a single person around. I was really looking forward to catching them and not having to worry as much in future. Fingers crossed that's the end and they have given up, will be doing everything mentioned in this post. Has anyone tried fitting those round van door locks to the front doors? The ones that are two pieces, one bolted to the door and one to the body then a round lock goes over the two bits and can't be tampered with. Do they work before I go filling my doors with holes?

Thanks

They'll just cut through the soft alloy of the door, so not really worth it on a Defender (sorry).

Worth spending some on the disklok - best for any vehicle IMO.

Chances are they will leave it a few nights or a week or so, to let the dust settle but they will most likely come back. They will probably try to tow it away so stuff about battery will not work. Best try to bolt a chain to the vehicle and padlock it to another vehicle. Do you have a security light with a PIR fitted? I think an alarm which sounds when the door is opened is the best bet. No thief wants to work in the light or after an alarm sounds. Good luck. If you catch them give them our "regards".

if you have drums on the rear and if you can be bothered why not adjust the brake shoes out all the way when you park it up at night. might give u enough time to hear em trying to drive off

wheel clamp ? itd have to be lifted away or the clamp cut- although a wheel clamp that big might be a might expensive :D

i like the idea of removing the ability to steer - whilst leaving the wheel in.

watching them crash their brains out .....

thats a good idea mate ,security posts will keep all you vehicles safe and you could probably make one out of scaffold tube for next to nowt .

Another alternative to the clutch claw is an 'Ard Case from Mud I think. I'm thinking of getting one of those and a disklok for mine and an alarm to go with my immobiliser. Hope the thieving knob eds don't ever come back to get it. My 110 dcpu was stolen a few years back, so silent and prepared they must have been I didnt hear them with my bedroom window open. I assume they must have picked it up and dumped it on a flatbed and driven off as no broken glass or anything. No alarm sound or anything.

The first time mine was stolen they pulled out the rubber around the small rear windows and reached in to open the rear door. To prevent that I've got grills on the rear windows and a dog guard so they can't get through to the front. No broken glass or damage other than the ignition barrel. Luckily the police found it 2 days later just abandoned. No signs of them coming back yet but I've done everything suggested here to slow them down hopefully till the police arrive, not getting much sleep at the moment tho. I'm just glad it's warm so I can keep all the windows open and listen for anything going on.

1 remove the live from the atarter motor be carefull as its live
2 as they have cut the steering wheel why not remove it they cannot drive it without a steering wheel

You will be able to drive it with a pair of mole grips on the splined bit of the column.
