Hey everyone,

I'm having abit of a nightmare.
Purchased some 16" wheels off Facebook with at tyres on.
Advertised as good tyres, well I've had to replace 2 anyway.....
I've come to fit them and I'm abit confused I have a 2006 fl1 td4.
The rears and front right fit fine from what I can see, the nuts torque up.
The front left is rubbing the caliper badly also is a slight different colour from the rest.
I'm guessing I have been sold 3 newish type wheels and a older alloy.
My question is will 5mm spacers sort the caliper clearance.
Or will the older type clear the drum in the rear so I can fit the newer type to the front?
Thanks
Adam

Yes sorry that's the one that is scrubbing

Sounds like you've got 1 early wheel, which has a different offset to the later wheels.

Check the part numbers or date code on the rear of the wheels.

Check this thread for more information.

On the one that doesn't seem to fit the part number is RRc112310xxx made in italy

I can't see that on the list

That's the pre 2001MY Freedom 16" wheel, which I didn't have at the time the thread was done.

I can add it now, although that doesn't help you.

You need to find another wheel that matches the PN of the other 3, and switch the tyre over.

Thanks mate massive help I was well confused. This wheel fits ok but all the part numbers are worn away. Don't spose anyone can tell by looking at it.....

I'm guessing it's the wheel I've circled.
It doesn't have any extra holes between the stud holes.

However this doesn't mean the extra holes can be used for identification, as the 2003 onwards wheels didn't have holes either.

That was probably a spare, and actually you can't use it anyway, as it's got an odd tyre, which will destroy the drive train.

Yea i thought that. Could I use two different brands in the same axle just out of interest.

Sorry to he a pain would you know the part number I should be looking out for for the 2006 FL 1

Unfortunately you need 4 identical tyres, the least worn going on the back. This is especially important for AT tyres, where they have deep treads, so can have a larger diameter variation between new and worn to near the legal limit.
The Freelander VCU is only designed to compensate for small variation in tread depths of about 5mm.

Any post 2001 wheel will fit, but as the 3 correct wheels have those 5 extra small holes between wheel stud holes, you simply need to find a Freedom with those extra holes, which will be the same. These wheels with the holes were used for a couple of years, between 2001 and around 2003, so you should find some on Ebay.

Thanks mate massively appreciate the help.

Noticed the wheel locking nuts are a awful design. I want to replace them. There's lots of options are they m12x1.5 or m14x1.5 does anyone know?

The stud size is m12 x 1.5. Make sure the taper angle is the same though. ;)
