Good night people. Last week I posted pictures about a Series 1 I was about to buy. I loved it and everyone here were giving me the thumbs up, but unfortunately the owner decided not to sell it to me and I had to start looking for one all over again. I came across with this one which is fairly original (bodywork wise) but has a swapped engine. I can get an original engine and mechanics but, what do you think about it? Do you think it is worth it? I want an original Series 1 but offer in my country is very limited so I have to resort to building these Frankensteins. Something that worries me is that matte black, bull**** military paint. Do you think that it will easy to remove those parts in order to treat them with some stripper? What kind of paint treatment are those parts supposed to have?
Again thank you very much for your time.

Looks like an ex military 80inch 1950-51 after that they had door handles on the out side.
So the matt green colour is pretty much right. Would have had the 1595 IOE valve engine.
What engine does it have now? Tailgate missing? Odd steering wheel. otherwise looks good.
Take it you checked chassis/bulkhead condition.

It has a 2.4 Toyota diesel engine, but it broke down and that’s why the owner is selling it fairly cheap. The steering wheel is an awful aftermarket one, but I can get an original one. The matte green paint does not bother me, the matte black paint on the galvanised trim does.

Mine had Spanish navy boat paint on it was kind of flat Matt stuff made a great key for when I painted it green . I initially put the navy paint on it when I lived in Spain thought it would be harder wearing. Anyway it’s worked out fine.
