I recently purchased a set of 5 modular wheels from Frog Island, helpful and friendly. They sent them out as they do with TNT. Note these are just the rims, no tyres. I got them sent to the wife as she's in during the day.
At 1550 I get a phone call, your delivery is here and he won't unload it, (fed-ex has taken over the shipment) he's asking for a fork lift truck.
He informs the wife the delivery weighs 90km, so I tell her that I'll be there in 5 minutes ( I was literally 200 yards away) and tell the guy to drop them by the front door.
His reply was he needed a fork lift again so the ever suffering Swmbo told him that I was coming back now and would be less than 5 minutes.
So he's on the phone to his boss, saying there's no business , it's a normal house without a drive, no where to park (empty space big enough for a lwb transit right outside, but they always park on the opposite pavement it's quicker) She calls me again, I'm halfway back, she tells him, " he's coming now" and the bloke says ' I have to be in Dover (20 minutes away half an hour if bad traffic) by 5 , jumps in his van and drives off. WTF he'said obviously not wanting to talk with me
I called Frog Island within minutes, they called TNT who said they'don't phone me. They didn't.
I checked the tracking and the answer is" recipient not home"

sounds like a lazy sod, had a set of 4 used wolf rims with tyres delivered couple of years back, we got them off the van.

I caught a courier posting a missed delivery card through our front door a few years ago where he hadn’t even tried knocking on the door or using the bell!

Okay i received a parcel from tnt today, a totally separate item with a different tracking number only thing the same is the delivery address

And tracking now shows my wheels as delivered.

So I rung them up and had a go to be told the stuff was still at the depot on a pallet and all wrapped up. So now they're going to separate the boxes and deliver them tomorrow. . They say that they needed a tail lift van to deliver the pallet so they didn't send them out today. Didn't bother to let me know either. The mind boggles.

So they were all wrapped together on a pallet.
They're now separating them into 4 separate boxes.
Wonder if they'll arrive together or on several different days........

When they separate boxes from a pallet they normally label each box as it changes from 1 of 1 to 1-4 of 4.

If they were on a pallet I'd expect them to need a pump truck or fork lift. I wouldn't expect them to break it down. If seperate then just being lazy.

Lol I want them separate. Otherwise I can't get them through the door and I don't think the wife will stand guard on them on the pavement.

Tuesday! they turn up, but still on pallet, I ring up and spoke to Liam at TNT again who told me they needed the permission of Frog Island to split them so they sent them out anyway ( ????) My wife signed for them, said 'Are you going to undo the Pallet? like they said?) and he clears off.
The Driver has now long since gone leaving my disabled wife sat on a pallet (giving me grief ) which she can't do anything with I phoned TNT again and they said they'd try get the driver to come back, they couldn't contact him
I explained i could do nothing as my wife can't get a pallet in the house and the land lady would go crazy if i left all the packaging and the reply was that the packaging was the senders responsibility, they'd done their part the driver had done what he was paid to do...
Fortunately a local builder saw my wife sat on the pallet and offered assistance AND took the rubbish away after
Personally I think ti's disgusting that a driver should expect a disabled woman to have a fork lift, and to unload it, Why was the driver sent out unable to even get stuff off his van? why did they tell me (both Lian and Carl ) that it would be soplit into the separate components, Why when told that was aggreed did the second driver not call the office to confirm? Towrags

I feel for you. Regrettably, being disabled myself, and having "stuff" delivered by these so-called couriers ( cowboys more like ) is the bane of my existence.

Hassle the seller - they are probably the only folk with any power in this situation .... and leave a review on the likes of Tru st Pi lot ... sometimes they take notice, most often they do not

Yer have to remember yer was having a pallet delivery to a residential address with heavy items on it. Most carriers won't accept yer address fer such a delivery because of the difficulties.

Nope, i was having 5 wheel rims, individually boxed, delivered, The pallet was someone elses idea AND we do quite often have HGV loading and unloading here, there's actually a loading spot in the road too, for all the washing machines and fridges the people in the flats next door want

Edit
they still assured me they would take the items off the pallet, two diffeerent operations controllers at Maidstone Depot , one of whom actually went out to look at it as it was in his yard

Then the complaint is against the sender fer sending a pallet to a residential address.

The tnt office staff have no direct control over the drivers decisions. They can put in a request but can't enforce it. The warehouse staff can split a pallet and send as separate items but yer have to take into account reality.

Pallets are used fer heavy items or bulk loads. Yer dun't need to pack the items as well as yer would if they were sent as separate boxes. When looking to split a pallet yer have to take that into account. Tnt would then be responsible fer damage.

If driver makes the decision it's one thing, but for the company having two separate staff at operations tell me they would separate the stuff and send it out is a different matter. They didn't separate them despite knowing it was a residential street, I told "Liam" that a pallet wouldn't work, he assured me they'd take it apart, as did Carl a couple of hours later when I rang to ask them why it was still showing as delivered on tracking. I told them Frog Island had said to call them if a problem and they still sent it out the next day on a pallet. 5 rims no tyres individually boxed and shrink wrapped to a pallet
That is what I have an issue with, they didn't request anything of the driver. It took my wife ten seconds to open the pallet but she couldn't lift the boxes off, and the local builder less than a minute to take the boxes off and move them 7 feet. ( through the door as well, nice chap)

Anyway Frog Island are escalating this with other stuff to their shipping account manager, seems mine isn't the only issue.

I feel for you & your spouse, today's service industry tends to leave customers with either a very good or very bad experience. My advice would be to complain at the highest management level.

I just had a pallet delivery , actually same as 5x wheels except boost alloys . Truck came with a pallet truck , tail lift and simply asked where do you want them . And likewise im on a street , I just split them and moved to my garage . So why had all those problems is silly .
