That's what 12 v phone chargers are for .

Kind of missing the point - messing around with cables, shoving it in the glove box - and I'm bound to forget it's in the glove box and then go in work without my phone?

a nice neat docking station in the ashtray, I can reach it, makes use of something that is being wasted.

just stick it in the docking station and it will charge up?? don't see the down side? you don't want music turn it off? pump up tyres? have a compressor in my shed for that? and to use a 12v socket I have 1 in the boot of my Rangie should I need to do it while out and about?

Ok fair enough for me Bluetooth on shuffle stick in the boot charging up hey presto

not done it yet but I want to take the ashtray out of my disco1 and put a digital voltmeter in there :)

in mine is a crushed beer can (its a tradition from years ago with me and my mate both doing it to each others cars and every new car we get we have to cristen it with a beer can in the ash tray) and normal **** like a light bulb a few coppers

I had some nuts and bolts from the facia in there, but they became redundant so I threw them all out - now ashtray = empty
