Bluetooth does the opposite - it drains the battery while I'm covering my 40 mile each way trip to work and back while rocking out to the sounds of AC/DC
I'd like to get to work with a fully charged iPhone

Kind of missing the point - messing around with cables, shoving it in the glove box - and I'm bound to forget it's in the glove box and then go in work without my phone?
a nice neat docking station in the ashtray, I can reach it, makes use of something that is being wasted.

just stick it in the docking station and it will charge up?? don't see the down side? you don't want music turn it off? pump up tyres? have a compressor in my shed for that? and to use a 12v socket I have 1 in the boot of my Rangie should I need to do it while out and about?

I had some nuts and bolts from the facia in there, but they became redundant so I threw them all out - now ashtray = empty
